Antigone and Creon

In the tragic story of Antigone by Sophocles. The story of Antigone, the king punishes anyone who tries to bury the "traitor": however, the traitor happens to also be his nephew. The king doesn't want anyone to bury him because he went a against his state according to the king. Antigone is Polynises sister, and she's is going to try to bury her brother and disobey the king. The conflict between Antigone and Creon result of both their similarities and differences in this tragic flaw.

The differences between Antigone and Creon are there loyalty. Antigone is loyal to her family and gods. "I will bury the brother I love".( scene 2. line 69). Antigone is loyal to her gods. "Which one of us can say what the gods hold wicked" (scene 3. Line 131). By that it means Creon will get punished for going against the gods laws. Creon is loyal to his state because he punishes anyone including his own family. "This girl is guilty of double insolence. Breaking the given laws and boasting of it". Creon is not loyal to his family because he doesn't let them bury Polynises.

The similarities between Antigone and Creon are there pride. "I do I deny nothing" Antigone tells Creon. Antigone tells Creon to arrest her because she's proud she buried her brother. Croons pride is to prove her wrong. Also to show the people there king is right. "You will give no support to whoever breaks this law" shows Creons arrogance. Their pride is important to both of them, even though they both have different thoughts on the others though of there pride.

Both Antigone and Creon are both to blame for this tragic mistake. Creon was very stubborn. He also said it was his way or no way. Antigone is also to blame for not listening. She could have also been secretive about burying Polynises.
