Literary analysis EXTRA CREDIT LORDOF THE FLIES

1) The Lord of the flies is a novel about some British boys that got stranded on a Island while traveling on a plane. Piggy and Ralph meet on the island find a conch blow it more boys show up. Then they enforced some laws like who was chief, hunter leader, and whoever holds the conch as priority of speaking. Ralph gets obsessed with having a fire and jack with hunting. They use Piggys glasses to light the fire. The smallest boys the littluns have a nightmare about a beast on the island one of them described it as a snake like thing. One night when they had the fire  on the mountain it got out of hand and burnt part of the island one of the boys died. Threw out the book jack got way to much into hunting to were he wasn't watching the fire when it was his turn to watch it which could have saved to the boys on the island because a ship went by but there was no fire. One of the boys named roger was the meanest on the island he would bully the smaller boys and throw rocks to hit and miss. After a while jack started becoming a savage painting his face cutting off the head of a pig and jabbing it on a stick he slowly started becoming uncivialized. There was a boy called simon who was the Most calm he would find a place so he could chill and be peaceful and be mellow. After a while the boys became savages they started seeing things. Simon would see the dead pig head talking to him. The pig head wormed him something bad was going to happen.
The next day Simon had been killed by the boys after that jack and his tribe  had gotten out of control started to steal Ralph's fire and Piggys glasses which got piggy mad so the two tribes fought and piggy died. They catch samneric and plan to kill Ralph next Ralph runs away tries to avoid them. Ralph hides in thick grass  so they smoke him put and burn the island and so a naval ship sees the burning island and finds the boys and saves them.
2)the theme of this book is survival. Survival is the team because that's what
The boys need to do. And Ralph shows that when he avoids them when they try to kill him. And jack survival is the reseaon he hunts.
3) I didn't chose this book it was assigned to read in class and home. The book didn't seem really appealing to me a first but as I read it got intersting because it has to do with survival of the fittest. In the end I enjoyed reading the book.
4) yes I do find this book realistic because boys could be stuck on an island. Humans can turn against each other to survive harsh conditions. When I went camping my group and I had to hike a mile up a hill full thorn bushes that hurt really bad to get to our destination the conditions were harsh so we did what ever we could.
5)the authors tone is suspenseful he has people dieing. Hunting food trying to survive then hunting each other and the unexpected deaths.
6)internal conflict:"maybe he means it's some sort if ghost"(89)
External:" you didn't ought to have let that fire out. You said you'd keep the smoke going—"(71)
Setting:" this is an island"(7)
Foreshadowing: "we need meat"(71)
Exposition:the exposition is when jack forms his own tribe.
Flashback:"S'right. It's a shell! I seen one like that before. On someone's back wall.
Flat character:Piggy
Static character:jack
Motivation: is being home, so they have to try to survive
7) characterization
"—meat—"142
"—To a feast—"142
"He's a hunter"143
"Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill the blood."69
2) the author diction changes when he talks about simon because he is more calm and mellow.
3) the protagonist in the story is both flat and static because as he tries to get off the island he becomes better at certain things.
4)after reading this book I do feel like I have gotten closer to some character and I can elate to them like piggy being bullied fat and needing glasses, or like jack getting into hunting, and simon being calm and mellow.
ENDURING PARAGRAPH
The part of the story o won't forget is when piggy dies that part of the book was so shocking and sad. Piggy was like the nicest and weakest on the island why he die. I won't forget the end of the story either because how they had lost hope of getting off the island but they manage to get of when you don't expect it like the way the officer saw them fighting burning the island.

Literary analysis #2 Maus

1) In the beginning of the book Art goes to his father Vladek's house to interview his father because he is going to write a book about his fathers life and how it was for him during the Holocaust. He begins the story by starting on how he met his mother Anja. Anja is in a wealthy family which helps him start his own textile factory. They live in Poland around the same years as WW2. After the birth Art his mom struggled of post-partum depression. So they go to Czechoslovakia so she can get attended there. Threw out there way there the see what's going on with the Nazi and what there doing in Central Europe. In Czechoslovakia there wasn't really any nazi yet, so they were safe. As they return to Poland his factory has been messed with. Once the war begins Vladek goes to war to fight for Poland. He gets captured as a Prisoner Of War by the Germans. He gets sent to a POW Camp. When he returns back to  Poland the Germans have taken over and they spread like there naziism. He loses his factory. He try's to make a living on the black market. Vladek and Anna were sent to different concentration camps with a lot of Jews, but they got separated and where sent to different ones. They send there boy To stay with a relative in a polish city. The relative dies and feeds poison to Richieu and her own kids so that the nazi would get them. Because of Vladeks skills he manages to get his wife to transfer with him in Auschwitz. The Germans decide to move them with as well as the Jews to a different more extreme camp. He catches the typhus fever and gets moved. There the Germans take him and other prisoner by the Sweden borders to be exacted but the Americans show up so the Germans ran Vladek and the prisoners hide in a farm and get rescued by the Americans. After being saved he returns to Sosnowiec with his wife but then move to Sweden and finally move to the USA and have Art there and live a new life. After hearing his father story Art get closer to his dad and gets even more mad on her mom killing her self. But his dad remarried. In the end Art get suspicious about how after his first wife died he destroyed all her WW2 diaries.
2) The theme of this book I believe is Family. Because throughout the book the family goes threw tough situations in the holocaust such as separating, sent to a ghetto, concentration camps, and thingys like that but they still didn't get split apart. Vladek kept finding ways to get reunited with his wife no matter how hard the sotuation was.
3) I chose this book because it was a story about a WW2 survivor someone that was in the holocaust a survivor of it. The book also seemed intersting because it had picture so it was easy to visualize things. The book kept me reading because it seemed to get intense and realistic.
4) Yes I do find this book realistic because I have learned a lot about the holocaust and the concentration and death camps and also how it was to be in WW2. In my history class we learned a lot about the holocaust at the same time I was reading this book. I can relay to this book because Vladek did a lot to stay with his wife I would do the same if it were any of my family too.
5) The authors tone is curious and interested because he decides to write a novel about his dad and asks plenty of questions.
6)
Foreshadowing: "Then we heard something to give us a little hope..."(62)
Internal conflict: "I stayed up a few days recuperating. But I was restless. How could I manage to sneak across the border to my family?"(63)
External conflict: "two days ago the Nazis marched them to a forest...."(61)
Setting:" so we live and worked a few weeks in the stable until they took us to an even bigger prisoner of war camp."(53)
Motivation: "How could I manage to sneak across the border to my family?"(63)
Flat character: "Orbach! Am I glad to see you!"(63)
Static character: " we should hang you right here on this spot."(51)
Flash back: the whole book is a flashback. Lol
Exposition: "They Marched me to where it was more like me. WAR PRISONERS."(49)
7) Characterization
1- "you have never worked a day in your life!"(51)
I didn't know, of course, that he was communist.(27)
"Like you, Artie, My hands were always very delicate"(51)
"I always kept fat away from communist people."(27)
2-
The author really focuses on Vladek when he becomes a POW.
3- The protagonists is flat in the book is Vladek it's a biography about him.
the antagonist are the Nazis in the story. "Well, Jew, don't worry, well find work for you!"(51)
4-
I feel like I have seen the past of Vladek from this story like all of it. The book makes it feel like if I met him and like if I was there.
ENDURING PARAGRAPH
A memory I will always member is from this book is how Vladek was able to be strong enough to tell the story most people try to forget about the war. Vladek told us how it felt. How hard it was. How much effort it took. The second is when they capture him and send have him in a POW camp and not kill him.
